...a long leisurely Memorial Day weekend?
Some understand its full meaning more clearly than others.
Here we all are in the U.S. - blessed with the hard-won freedom to live without cruel, limiting tyrannical rule.
The 1940s WW11 folks, known as The Greatest Generation, fully understand, though they suffered personal losses of those dear to them.
They came together at that time to do whatever they could to help in the effort to succeed, even as they mourned losses in the battle to save the freedoms their children and grandchildren now enjoy.
And now, the Greatest Generation praises those who must protect our way of life once again.
Today's new recruits volunteer, by choice.
WW11 military were required to join if their numbers came up and if they qualified.
At the same time, our entire nation came together, fully understanding that our freedom was at stake.
